Now accepting
applications for the Fall 2008 International Studies Program
(October 13 - November 7, 2008).

The Margie Haber Studio International Studies Program
(ISP) is a four week long immersion program into the
craft and the business of film and television acting in Hollywood.
Four times a year, 12-15 students from around the globe
travel to our Los Angeles studio to participate in this extraordinary
event for four weeks.
Included in the program are:
• Well over eighty (80) hours of on-camera instruction at
the Margie Haber studio, with Margie and our other teachers, helping
the actor to develop and use the tools of relationship, intention,
history, personalization, opening beat and moment to moment work
– tools that help the actor to Stop Acting and to
Live the Life of the Character.
• Intensive work in the Haber Phrase Technique
– Margie’s revolutionary system that teaches the actor
how to use the page instead of fear it; to trust the words and
explore the life, instead of focusing on the traps that come with
forced memorization.
• A session with Dialect coach Steven Memel,
to help the student free their natural voice.
• A session with working actors in Hollywood, in order to
share the experiences of what it is like to be a new face in town
and how to make the transition from being a new face to a series
regular.
• A session with an immigration specialist, to help the
students learn what documents and procedures they must follow
in order to obtain work in the U.S.
• A resume and headshot session with industry professionals
showing what is currently the Hollywood standard.
• A session with a Manager, where the actors can learn the
pitfalls of the business and how to obtain representation.
• A session with an Agent, where the actor’s skills
and tools are evaluated.
• A casting session with a well-known Casting Director.
• An industry party, thrown for the students, to allow them
to practice all that they have learned.
• Off-site activities, such as a television taping and a
night at the famous Groundlings improv theatre.
On the weekend, the student is free to explore
Los Angeles and its surrounding areas; if you wish, we can provide
you with a travel agent to help secure transportation and lodging
for weekend excursions.

the course such as a talk from Halle Berry's manager, a top casting
director and huge Hollywood talent agent-- all of which actors
would kill for! The coaches I was privileged to work with- Jim,
Tess and Saxon- were incredible. Their passion and dedication
is so inspiring!”

I am five weeks into a program of 6 at the Margie Haber Studios.
Margie and her team of teachers whom I have worked with. Saxon
Trainor, Jim Gleeson, Crystal Carson and Steve Memel have provided
me with an indispensable approach to prepare and present my work.
Each teacher whilst being highly individual in their personality,
teaching style and process, are all empowering me to move towards
the common goal of communication. For me to find the excitement
of truth in any human experience, that is written on a page, or
as I now refer to it, in a slice of life.
It has required a shift in thought and vocabulary, to embrace
fully what is being taught at the Margie Haber studios. It has
revolutionized my thought process as a person as well as an actor
and I would have had a lesser experience in life and work had
I not come to Los Angeles to work at Margie's Studio. I could
not recommend the program or the people who work at the Studio
strongly enough.A thought on Margie, whilst all her motley crue
are the real deal, sensational people and teachers, in their own
right, including the office angels, Anne and Jill. Margie brings
it all together in her own Inimitable, entertaining style. She
is quite simply, a brilliant communicator, a glass is half full
no matter how grim the circumstances kinda girl.
The Margie Haber phrase technique is a small part of what she
and her teaching is about. She teaches actors something many,
including myself, have forgotten. Before anything we are human
beings and it is our job to tell stories, that are full of humanity
and life, that imperfectiis more interesting than perfection and
that no one can be me. That by being truthfully me, that is what
will make my work unique and that is what makes Margie and her
work unique also. I consider a friend and one I will know for
a long time.
