With over 35 years of experience, Margie Haber is known as Hollywood’s top audition technique and acting coach. Margie has been very busy these past few years – working with actors from all over the world through her studio’s Intensive Studies Program (formerly known as the International Studies Program), starring in “Hollywood Trials” Docu/Reality TV series for RTE network in Ireland, producing workshops and events at her internationally-renowned studio in Hollywood, and teaching workshops and seminars across the globe – everywhere from Indonesia to New York City.
Here are a few names on her list of growing clients: Brad Pitt, Vince Vaughn, Halle Berry, Heather Locklear, Kelly Preston, Kyle Chandler, Eric Close, Kristin Davis, Laura Innes, Stephen Collins, Traylor Howard, Haaz Sleiman, Vondie Curtis Hall, Sophia Bush, Amy Smart, Jeri Ryan, Traylor Howard, Mariska Hargitay, Molly Sims, and Colin Egglesfield.
What is it that Margie teaches? The answer to that question is within title of her book: Margie teaches actors How to Get the Part Without Falling Apart. Margie takes away the “three p’s”- Pain, Panic, and Performance Anxiety- from the cold-reading & audition process and gives back the “Big P” – POWER- to the actor. She teaches actors her philosophy, “Stop Acting and Start Living the Life”, using her unique 10-step approach to breakdown the slice of life physically and emotionally, rather than intellectually. Her revolutionary Haber Phrase Technique has helped thousands of actors use to use the page without losing the life, while supporting relationship and purpose.
Margie was an audition coach in the 1980′s, when two of her clients, Brad Pitt and Michael Easton, wound up testing for the same role in the film Thelma & Louise. That was Pitt’s career breakthrough role, and she’s helped thousands of other actors do the same ever since.
Born in New York, Margie received her Bachelors Degree from Ithaca College and her Masters Degree in Speech Pathology from Brooklyn College. She left New York for the West Coast in 1970, and embarked on an acting career in Hollywood which spanned over two decades. During those years, Margie Guest-Starred in films and television series, and was the “quintessential mom” in countless commercials.
In the late 70′s and early 80′s, Margie combined her acting career with a career in teaching. It was while teaching at the famous Lee Strasberg Institute that she recognized the need and value of a good Cold Reading and Audition Technique. In the 80s, she founded the Margie Haber Studio to fill that need.
Margie continues to find teaching her first love and is proud of the success of all of her students.
